Arts Equity Group wasn’t just a workplace, it was a learning haven.
Internships serve as crucial stepping stones in one's professional development, giving invaluable work experience and exposure to a wide range of industries. My experience as an Intern at Arts Equity Group has been an amazing journey.
When I first started at Arts Equity Group, I was warmly welcomed by my team members. From day one, it was apparent that the work atmosphere was conducive to learning and growth. In our first meeting, we sat down and identified my SMART goals and began to foster a culture of accountability and support - where everyone on the call shared their goals too, and we each brainstormed ways we could support each other in achieving them. The diverse backgrounds and expertise of my colleagues took my learning experience to a whole new level. Early on in my internship, I was able to join meetings with AEG consultants and clients from across industries- including investment companies, fintech, government contracting, and not-for-profit organizations. Not only did they avidly share their knowledge and experiences, but they also encouraged me to think outside the box and explore new ways of approaching diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion within the arts and culture field. I reported directly to Danielle and her unwavering support and willingness to help whenever I had questions or doubts fueled my confidence and enthusiasm.
When I began my internship at AEG, my primary focus was on marketing and communications. However, I soon found myself captivated by the vibrant world of arts and culture—a field I had not anticipated exploring so indepthly. This experience transformed my internship into much more than creating engaging social media content and designing internal structures; it became a profound immersion into the art scene, which was intricately woven into AEG’s innovative consulting services.
In my role, I gained insights into the influential realm of documentary filmmaking, the significant community impacts of public art, and the broader economic and social contributions of art galleries. Particularly fascinating was learning about galleries pioneering new models of exchange through decentralized technology.
While I continued to refine my marketing skills by developing compelling content for AEG’s digital platforms, the dynamic projects unfolding around me sparked a deeper interest. My skills in identifying trends and engaging audiences not only enhanced AEG's online footprint but also connected me to the tangible impacts these projects had on real communities. This bridge between digital work and meaningful real-world interactions enriched my understanding and appreciation of the intersection between art and communication.
For me, AEG wasn't just a workplace, it was a catalyst for growth. Every day brought new learnings and the opportunity to rub shoulders with brilliant minds. From the seasoned veterans leading the charge on consulting practices to young artists brimming with fresh ideas, because AEG fosters a culture of collaboration and intellectual curiosity, I got to learn from all of them. Now that my tenure at AEG has concluded, I am thrilled to leverage the invaluable insights and experiences I've gained in my future endeavors.
